Flashback Friday - Open Crib

It's a huge day in the NICU when your baby gets to move from an isolette (incubator) to an open crib. It means that they have reached that important milestone of being able to regulate their own body temperature. I remember the day that Jack got to move. He was 13 weeks old. It was with one of our most favorite nurses and Grams, plus Gram's best friend, too. It was so much fun to celebrate the milestone together.

What a WONDERFUL milestone. I was so excited the day the muppets roof got raised.

Loved, loved, loved the day when Veronica transitioned to the open crib. It felt sooooooo significant.

How nice that Grams (and her friend) were there to share in the joy.

This just happened to us last week. one of James' doctors joked that James wad good enough to go home so they discharged him. I laughed. Then I walked into his room and saw that his isolette was gone. I let out a loud noise of some sort of being scared (where was he) to laughing as I realized he was in a tiny crib up against the wall. For 6+ weeks we watched as other babies got moved to open cribs. We knew the time would come, eventually. And when it did we were excited. We are one step closer to going home. Now if he could just get breathing and eating down, I'd be happy (eh happier, i'm already plenty happy with him!)
