Flashback Friday - Real

The only way to describe this picture is real. When Jack was in renal failure, we had a photographer come in to take pictures of him, because he wasn't expected to make it. He was so swollen and you can see his toes coming out of his puffy little foot. You can also see the pin pricks from continuous blood/gas checks (where they prick the heel to get a blood sample). You can also see a little sore on his upper ankle. Real life in the NICU.

Brings back so many memories of our stay in the NICU with my daughter born at 26 weeks. Just looking back at her pictures squeezes my heart in a way that makes me not regret a single minute, or wish that anything was different, but at the same time, NEVER want to have to go through it again.

It's hard to look at that picture of his sweet little foot. No wonder our kids are afraid of doctors. His little foot looks completely tortured. He is such a miracle!
