Little Getaway

Our little getaway was definitely enjoyable.

We went to Big Sky, Montana. Jon had to teach a continuing legal education class being held at the resort, so we decided to make a weekend out of it. Jack stayed with Grams and Cheeks and I'm sure, loved every minute of it.

Most people go to Big Sky to ski the gorgeous slopes. We only had one full day there after Jon was done speaking, so we chose to relax in our rustic lodge and just chill.

It was perfect. Fireplace? Check. Large, comfy couches and chairs? Check.

Jon spent most of his time on his iPad finding interesting news bits and articles to read to me. He is always good for some snarky commenting.

I read this book that is our book club choice for the month. A warm and fuzzy book full of recipes that just made me want to bake something.

Speaking of eating, we found some gems in Big Sky. Namely Blue Moon Bakery (great breakfast and lunch spot) and Lotus Pad (which has to be some of the best Thai food I've ever had).

We also made sure to take some walks around the resort to catch some of the skiing and snowboarding action. It was fun people watching.

After our time in Big Sky, we decided to spend a day and night in Bozeman, Montana. I love Bozeman, especially the downtown. Highlights for us were an afternoon at Barnes and Noble and then a movie. We ate good, too... the Nova Cafe (yummy breakfast and fun atmosphere) and Blackbird Kitchen (seriously one of the best restaurants in the state. After eating there, we were devising a plan to move to Bozeman just to be able to eat there more often).

snowy, downtown Bozeman.

It was such a wonderful little trip. We just relaxed and spent time together. No agenda or schedule. Just what we needed. And of course, once home, got lots of love from our little guy.

How do you do it with Jack and the cold? We get enough snow to enjoy but your pictures are beautiful!

I'm glad you were able to join Jon on his trip & have a little vacation together. I like Downtown Bozeman too, but have never been to Big Sky. I'm glad you had a good, relaxing time. p.s. My sis & her husband put an offer on a house in Missoula today (her birthday)! :)
