Jack's New Speech Therapist

We've been very excited about Jack's new Speech Therapist and I wanted to introduce her to you today. Not only is she the perfect fit for Jack (caring, gentle, incredibly gifted, soft spoken, and kind), she is also a good friend.

This is Julie. We have known each other for almost 5 years now. Throughout our NICU experience, she would come and visit. She has known Jack since he was teeny tiny and has cheered him on every step of the way. And as luck would have it, she's an amazing speech therapist with a heart of gold for little ones.

She moved away for a couple years but has recently relocated back to our town. We couldn't be happier!

Some may wonder how a close friend would do as your child's therapist? Let me just say that it is wonderful. I've never felt more at ease. More than that, I feel like I can be totally honest with how things are going, with my concerns, hopes, and fears, and she will get it. We strive to keep the patient/therapist relationship just like it would be in any other setting. When Julie arrives at our house for our weekly, one hour session, we are all business. We get homework to do and reports on Jack's progress.

Friend and therapist? Best of both worlds.

But the very best thing is that I get the comfort of mind knowing that Julie truly cares about how Jack is doing. And that, blog friends, is priceless.
