Day 23

Day 23: A picture of your favorite book

oh boy I miss those snuggle days

Ok seriously! How am I supposed to pick a favorite book? So I went with what book have I loved recently, and then I will tell you about my all-time favorites. I reviewed this book a year or so ago. My thoughts haven't changed. I love The Help. And I'm anxiously awaiting the movie. Hope they do it justice!

The books that have made the biggest impact on me over my lifetime are as follows: the Bible (currently using The Message, which is a Bible written in contemporary English), The Hiding Place, The Cross and the Switchblade, The Heavenly Man, I Dared to Call Him Father, A Chance to Die, Bruchko, Rebel With a Cause... are you seeing a theme? I have read these books over and over. Maybe it's the nostalgia of how I felt when I read them while I was young. Or maybe I just want to do something beyond the ordinary in my life. I'm pretty sure I've blogged about my issues of feeling restless. Growing up, I was always reading these types of stories. I'm just drawn to biographies of ordinary people doing amazing things.

Right now I'm reading the Dietrich Bonhoeffer biography. It is so so good.

Ooh, I've been wanting to read the new Bonhoeffer bio too! We're such bookwork nerds, Jessi...but I wouldn't want it any other way! :)

I haven't read the last 5 on your list...any chance I could borrow them sometime?

Ya, a favorite book?! How about all books, even the ones I didn't like? I wouldn't be me without all my stacks of books. I don't like clutter and I don't like collecting, but I make an exception for my books.
