Day 22

Day 22: A picture of something you wish you were better at

Yes this picture is a little tongue and cheek, but I've always wanted to (really) learn how to bake. And I don't just mean baking some cookies or a muffin. That I can do. I'm talking about pastry. Beautiful, intricate, and yummy pastry. Oh so very french and oh so very good...mmm...

I want to learn how to do this:

macaroons

croissant

apple tart tatin

chocolate bomb

I don't know what this is, but it's amazing

pistachio tart - my Paris favorite

Serious pastry chefs go to school in Paris. Wouldn't that be magical? It's really a beautiful art. These pictures are all taken from Google images, but I know they are from some of the top bakeries in the country.

The most incredibly yummy pastry I've ever eaten is called a Kouig-aman. And get this - you can actually find them sold here in the west. In Salt Lake City, there is this amazing little bakery, Les Madeleines that has mastered Kouig-aman. It is perfection. When Jon and I were in SLC in February, we had them every morning for breakfast. And they can ship them to you!

Watch this and drool.

Any pastry with chocolate would be my favorite although I'd probably pass up pastry for a cookie or brownie, showing that I have no class! :)
