Day 13

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist

At the Gorge Amphitheater in September 2007

We love music. And if it's live, even better.

Today's challenge is to pick a favorite, and I just cannot do that. I love a lot of different stuff, and it mostly depends on my mood.

My Pandora stations includes all of these...

Classic (meaning not of this decade): U2, Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, Journey, CCR (best road trip music ever), Rush, Madonna, Alice in Chains, Rolling Stones, Nirvana, James Taylor, The Mamas and the Papas, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, Oasis, Radiohead, Duran Duran, and a whole lotta one hit wonders from the 80's.

Modern: Coldplay, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Muse, Keane, and The White Stripes

Music is so subjective and people have super strong feelings on what is considered "good" music and what is "bad".  I say listen to what moves you. For me, rock n' roll is where it's at, although lately, I am enjoying softer sounds. I think this closely relates to the music I listen to when Jack is playing. We like it calm and quiet around here. Lots of Iron and Wine and Jewel Lullaby on repeat.

I love classical chorale music, too, and I miss singing in choirs. I still listen to old practise CD's from different productions that I was in. Hopefully I will get back into that, as Jack grows.

Out of all of these, I would probably pick U2 as my most listened to because I have consistently loved them since high school. I have seen them twice in concert and we have our next U2 adventure planned for June in Seattle at Qwest Field. They are definitely, hands down, the best live concert. It's like pure electricity, no other way to describe it.

What are your favorites? Any good recommendations?

I agree - way too hard to pick just one. We have very different tastes in music! :) I go for the mellow, Jewel type music every time although I do have CCR and U2 thanks to Cory. I also love James Taylor and the Beatles!

Seriously, try the Amos Lee station on your pandora, if you are looking for something new and mellow. It's interesting - sometimes it get stuck in different genres on that station - I'll hear a lot of Jack Johnson/John Mayer then the next day it will be all Beatles and James Taylor. Give it a try.

Oh, and super excited for your Seattle trip!!
