Day 12

Day 12: A picture of something you love

Gramps and Jack on Christmas morning with Jack's new handmade puzzle stool.

I love gifts. I love buying them and I love getting them. It's a tangible way to show someone you care. There is something extra special about a handmade gift. My dad made this stool and I love it.

I went to the post office today to pick up a package. It was from a friend full of gifts for Jack. Some were handmade. There was a Superman cape, letter crayons that spell "JACK" and a texture fabric toy so that Jack could work on using his left hand. So very thoughtful!

fun colors and textures

I love it!

I made a promise in 2011 to make something handmade for the first 5 people that commented on my status about the "Handmade/Homemade Challenge" on Facebook. I am really enjoying this whole resurgence of  how it's "cool" to go handmade (aka Etsy). I am still thinking about what I want to make for the challenge and wishing I was super crafty.

I also love to make/receive homemade goodies. What a great, inexpensive gift! I took over a plate of mocha brownies to a friend last night. They were sooooo good.

I have gotten some amazingly beautiful stuff from my mother-in-law. She is so, so talented.

My mother-in-law is constantly working on a new project, using her hands, and making something beautiful.

I heart all these handmade treasures.

I wish I made more time to be crafty/inspiration. I used to do a lot more...seems like my creative juices go into my blog and journaling and that's about it. Somewhere between thinking up an idea, buying/gathering the stuff for it and accomplishing it, I lose steam. Maybe I need a craft room...yes, that must be it! Loved all the pics of handmade stuff. And for the record, you are the best gift-giver!!

Hello-

I recently came across your blog and wanted to reach out to you in hopes of you posting about an event that we're particularly excited about at Primrose Schools.

I have an article/event that I would like to submit that is about dancing and how it relates to fitness. Primrose Schools is hosting a Dance Off competition (with proceeds going the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals) for families and I think it is something you and your readers would enjoy!

I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you,
Emily Patterson
