I'm also tagging myself!

Babsbabble...such a great blog. I am tagging myself, just like Babs did. Here we go:

What books are on your favorite shelf?

I have recently gotten into a lot of fiction, which is not my usual genre of choice. If I have to choose some favorites, they are normally autobiographies of amazing people who overcame the odds and followed their passion. Most of these I read when I was young and they made an impression on me. Here are two that I read over and over and over again.

-The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
-The Cross and the Switchblade by David Wilkerson

What DVDs are on your favorite shelf?

This is fun... the classics like Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, for sure. I am also a big sucker for chick flicks like Steele Magnolias, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Devil Wears Prada. I could watch those on a cold winter day and be in heaven! From my childhood, it would have to be Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. Still love those.

What are your two favorite cookbooks?

I like the family cookbooks. A couple years ago at Christmas we got a Winterholler (mom-in-law's family) cookbook that I really like.

I am not much of a cook, but really enjoy baking. I have quite a few baking books that I have yet to make a dent in. Planning to bake a lot more now that I am at home.

Select one to three recipies you cook for special guests:

I don't cook at all. Jon is the chef in our house and he is really talented in that department. I am clueless when it comes to cooking. I had to ask Jon the other day how to bake a potatoe. Seriously. When it comes to baking, I can make a yummy pecan pie and really, really good (healthy!) banana bread.

Five random facts about you:

1) I used to sing a whole lot. In choirs, competitions, at church, in musicals, in public, lots. I don't sing anymore and I sometimes get sad about that.

2) I hate hate hate taking the car in for an oil change.... also in this category would have to be going to the hardware store. Hate it.

3) I am a sucker for Hollywood gossip.

4) I used to have 20+ pairs of high heels. And I wore them all the time. These days its either flip flops or Uggs. I need a "What Not to Wear" intervention.

5) I am still dreaming about going back to school.

I love it Jessi! The part about the What Not to Wear intervention cracked me up. I love flip flops and uggs...why bother with anything else? It's all about comfort. The trick is shoes for those days that are in between. With my footwear choices it's sweat or freeze. :)

Thanks for posting!

I love Uggs... I don't care if they are well, UGLY! They are the best in the fall and winter, and I will never stop wearing them no matter how many times I hear that they are a "fashion don't". :) p.s. I don't think you need a TLC intervention.

I also HATE cooking, and would need to ask how to cook a potato, as well. I made lasagna in my crock pot two nights ago. It was YUMMY and easy. Crock pot recipes (dump ingredients, turn it on), simple casseroles... that's about the extent of my cooking! :) I always say that I would like cooking if I had more time to cook, but deep down, I know that's a big fat LIE. HAHA!

Fun times, Jessi! I love your blog. :)

p.s. I agree with you on books and movies. You listed some of my favorites too. :) I bought the Anne of Green Gables book this summer. It's fun to re-read some of your childhood favorites as an adult. Highly recommend it!
