Jack: Million Dollar Baby

I really don't know how much has been spent on Jack to get him to this point, but I'm sure it's right around a cool million greenbacks. I haven't really thought about it much, because we have good health insurance. But then we found out that our insurance company has started to call the hospital to question decisions his doctors have made. I haven't had to call them yet to put the smack down, but that could happen soon.

This week Jack came down with a bout of thrush, which means Jack has now suffered from every medical problem known to man besides a goiter. Well, not really, but sometimes it seems that way. Thrush is a bacterial infection that causes white patches in the mouth and on the tongue. Treatments so far look like they will be successful.

We finally got some answers this week as far as surgeries go with Jack. Unfortunately, he is going to have two separate surgeries to deal with the hernia and the shunt placement. The doctors felt better about doing two in order to prevent any possible contamination of the new shunt. He will have his hernia surgery this Tuesday afternoon, and his shunt surgery the following Tuesday. Once he recovers from those, and is able to breathe well and feed well, he'll be coming home pretty soon!

The introduction of clothes to Jack's life, coupled with his growing weight and gut, poses one of the most important questions Jack has had to decide in his short life: should he tuck his pants over his belly or tuck under? So far he has experimented with both methods. Sometimes his pants ride low and fit comfortably under that nice round belly of his. Other times he has them so far up over his tummy that his belt line is close to his armpits. The jury is still out on that one. Part of the problem is that "preemie" clothes come in all shapes and sizes. In a matter of a few weeks, though, all that won't really matter since he'll graduate to new sizes.

I have attached a short video clip of Jack to give you a more animated view of him. When you watch it, you'll see why he's worth every penny of that million dollars.

I love the video! They showed it in church and we prayed for him. Every time we pray for him in church, I get all teary! He is blessing so many people just by being the amazing baby he is! And you and Jon are blessing so many people too!

Also Caleb got thrush too and it was not so fun...but it cleared up fast with the medicine. We'll keep Jack in our prayers as he undergoes surgery!

Hey Jessi, thank you for the comment and good luck next week with JAck's shunt. I will keep your family in my prayers. Brody's got his shunt in March, if you want to look back at our blogs about it for more info.

Take care and I will be checking back!

I'm hoping to start my own website soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a
paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Thanks!

It's actually very complicated in this full of activity life to listen news on TV, therefore I simply use world wide web for that reason, and take the hottest information.
