Update on Jessi and Baby Jack

Hey all,

Thanks so much for your prayers, calls, emails and such. We always knew we had good friends and family, but tough times make you see those things even clearer.

As some of you know, Jessi was in a quick downward spiral on Friday, which was eventually diagnosed as preeclampsia. When we learned of this late on Friday, the doctor said she had to be flown to Missoula immediately because her life and Jack's life were in imminent danger. When we arrived in Missoula, the doctor said an immediate emergency c-section was necessary, even though Jessi was only about 23 weeks along. Jack was born late Friday night at 1 pound, 2.4 ounces, and about 11 1/2 inches long. He is the smallest baby they have here at the NICU, and he requires round the clock attention. Jessi has been making some big steps forward after the c-section, and I'm very happy about that. Little Jack, though, has already had a rough first three days. Yesterday was especially tough when we learned he had suffered some significant brain hemorrhages. We still don't know the extent of the damage so we just wait and pray for his health and well-being. He still has many hurdles to jump, especially in the next two weeks. We just try and see him, touch him and talk to him whenever we can, which is still limited by Jessi's physical condition and NICU rules.

Looks like Missoula is going to be home base for us in the near future. I will eventually have to do some back and forth from here and Helena if things stabilize. Jessi will be staying with her parents while Jack is in the NICU at the hospital.

Feel free to pass this information along to people that may know us. We get so many encouraging calls, emails and texts, we can't always respond to a lot of them. We appreciate every one of them. We look forward to spending a lot of time with him and together as a family in the next couple of days.

I will try and send out another update shortly. I've attached a picture of Jessi holding Jack's little hand. God bless,

Jon
