1st Ultrasound

Today was super exciting! I was able to get my first ultrasound! We are friends with the owners of Sound Health Imaging, who offered to take a quick look of my tummy after church. It was amazing!

The thing I most wanted to see was a little beating heart. Jon saw it first and then pointed it out to me on my t.v. screen. It was blinking so fast! Then we got to listen to the heartbeat... so cool! 180 beats per minute. After that, pictures were taken, things measured and questions answered. It looks like my due date will be more around September 4th, rather than a week later. It is easier to predict a due date when you can measure the baby.

Anyway, it was such a great day. It is hard to grasp a pregnancy until you see an ultrasound - a major reason why we are bringing an ultrasound to the Pregnancy Resource Center. I wanted to know if my baby was "viable" or living. I wanted to see how big it was (a little bigger than an inch or the size of a large grape) and I wanted to know that everything looks normal for this early on. It was wonderful and exciting!

My next ultrasound is a month from now. They will test for Downs and a few other chromosomal disorders. I am getting most every test they offer because I want to be as prepared as possible. I can't wait until my Week 20 ultrasound. That is when we can find out the gender!

I texted a few friends to let them know about my ultrasound and my friend Emily texted back. She said that my tiny baby was being knitted together in my womb. So true!

Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Thanks Barb! No, I am not feeling much better... but it makes it so much easier now that I have seen my baby.

So exciting Jessi! And it gave me shivers to think that that tiny little being is already known by God! I can't wait to meet him or her!
